Who We Are
New Roots Community Farm
is located on 82 acres in the heart of Southern West Virginia’s New River Gorge region, New Roots Community Farm is a non-profit organization operating a year-round, 6-acre, diversified vegetable production farm that demonstrates intensive regenerative growing techniques and tools suited to Central Appalachian farm enterprises. Operation of this demonstration farm anchors New Roots as a key support for seasoned farmers as well as the beginning, young and BIPOC producers that will underpin the development of a just, equitable, and resilient agricultural economy in the New River Gorge region.
New Roots produce can be found in local restaurants, in Fayette County public school cafeterias, and at our on-farm market which showcases some of the region’s most unique and high quality agricultural offerings.
New Roots Community Farm
strives to engage and empower our community to build a vibrant, just, and equitable local food system.
‘Food System’ refers to all of the means by which food is produced and acquired including production, processing, distribution, and consumption. At New Roots Community Farm, we have three primary focuses as we strive to create a more equitable food system: Market Access, Land Access, and Food Access.
